Hey there! I’m Nicole

Prior to design I worked in the event industry, planning everything from educational conferences and trade show exhibits to black tie galas and high-profile weddings. My experience working in events has taught me how to manage client expectations, think creatively, and adapt to any situation.

I was first introduced to UX when the non-profit I was working for hired a consultant to update our website to increase event registrations. I was fascinated with their use of research, data, and personas to determine design features and functionality.  That fascination stuck with me, and when the event industry abruptly changed last year I decided to pursue my interest in user experience and make a pivot.

As I’ve explored the world of UX, I’ve come to realize that UX takes a lot of the aspects I enjoyed about working in events and translates them into products. Both events & UX are about creating an experience for people, anticipating their needs and providing solutions when things don’t go as planned. There’s also a tangible outcome from your work, whether it be an event that comes to life or a new feature that’s added to a product. The bonus for UX is that you get to build a useful product that can improve people’s lives.

In my free time you can find me reading a good book, training for my next half marathon, doing my daily yoga practice, baking, or planning my next trip.
